The Career Opportunities Developer will develop and manage career opportunities for YESPhilly students to complete their required graduation pathway.
Member Duties
Help students explore and identify their career interests through surveys, workshops, and visits to training programs, employers, and colleges.
Help students choose various opportunities to complete their graduation pathway including industry-recognized certifications, service-learning projects that benefit a community, and completion of an internship.
Expand YESPhilly’s network of providers and opportunities to allow students to complete their graduation pathways based on their career interests.

ProFESS (Program for Future Environmental Scientists and Stewards) at LandHealth Institute

Interested in becoming an architect and advocate of/for Philadelphia's natural ecosystems? LandHealth Institute is accepting applications for its 2021 Program for Future Environmental Scientists and Stewards (ProFESS) for rising 9th-12th grade students across the city. Rooted in interdisciplinary, immersive, "at-the-source" watershed-based learning in environmental science, environmental justice, ecological restoration, and community engagement, ProFESS hosts 1x/week sessions throughout the summer (with an option to continue into the Fall) to spark and build curiosity and confidence about the natural processes at work in your own neighborhood and city-wide. Receive a stipend doing it!
Writeaway! Digital Literacy Summer Mentorship Program
Enroll by June 1, 2021 to get matched with a mentor that shares a love of writing!
The Digital Literacy Mentorship is a six-week (three hours per week) or nine-week (two hours per week) program designed to match individual students with a mentor. Mentors will coach and guide mentees through a series of writing tasks aimed to promote digital literacy, provide opportunities for self-expression, and foster a love of writing.
Over the course of the program, mentees will meet virtually with their mentor two to three times per week for hour-long sessions. During these sessions, mentors will coach mentees through the creation of three writing tasks: a social media narrative, a personal narrative, and an informational essay.

CollegeTogether is a debt free college pathway program that combines learning with earning, connecting students to a college education while getting on the job experience, with the assistance of academic and career mentors. CollegeTogether partners with Southern New Hampshire University and Brandman University to create an accelerated college experience that is focused on student driven projects rather than lectures or testing.
Connection Training Services offers vocational training with job placement services for a variety of different trades, including security, First Aid/AED, Forklift Operator Certification, Construction, Plumbing, Weatherization, Fiber Optics, and Culinary Arts ServSafe Certification. WesGold Fellows Internship Program is for high school students interested in investing in their future through developing professionalism, business skills, and positively impacting their community. The program focuses on encouraging business and entrepreneurship through field trips, workshops, communication skills, and community services.
Aon Apprenticeship Program The Aon Apprenticeship program was designed to create a new pathway for individuals interested in completing their Associates Degree while gaining valuable experience and establishing a long-term career at Aon. It is a two-year program that balances on-the-job learning at Aon with in-school classroom learning at a two-year accredited partner college.
During the program, you will quickly learn about our business, develop your professional skills and build lasting relationships with our colleagues and clients. Do you have experience in customer service, administrative positions, working with people or on a team? All of these experiences help you learn how to problem-solve and will serve you well as an Aon Apprentice. As far as industry-specific work – don’t worry, we will teach you everything you need to know on that front.

The arts are a way to express your unique perspective in the world and create something that connects with others. Check out these programs that offer a fun and engaging practice for young artists.
PhillyCAM Youth Program is a supportive and collaborative environment of youth media makers! Learn how to communicate your thoughts and ideas by using video and audio to create high-quality content for multiple platforms. Our youth-powered media classes offer best practices for filming, editing and audio production while helping you build a new creative community and your artistic portfolio. Our classes are awesome for youth who want to work in television or radio but don’t know where to start.
The Village of Arts and Humanities Youth Program is a 30+ year old arts organization in the heart of North Philadelphia. We amplify the voices and aspirations of our community by providing arts-based opportunities for self-expression and personal success that engage youth and their families, revitalize physical space, and preserve black heritage.
Mural Arts Philadelphia Trash Academy is a project that uses art and creativity to change communities. Trash Academy seeks to restore and beautify public spaces and develops youth leadership in the community. Trash Academy is focused on environmental justice through public art and transformation.
