OUR EDUCATIONAL MODEL
YESPhilly has classes in all of the subjects required for a high school diploma by the School District of Philadelphia. Our school is designed to help students become confident and competent lifelong learners while preparing them to succeed in post-secondary education and careers. Classes are small and are designed so students can work at their instructional level and get the individual attention they need. YESPhilly classes are project-based and use the Summit Learning Platform, a blended instructional model that focuses on student collaborative projects and core content knowledge. Media arts and technology skills are infused throughout the school with several levels of media and technology classes. Our school year is divided into four terms and a summer cycle. New students can enroll at the beginning of each term and students, who have earned all required credits, graduate at the end of each term.
Postsecondary Success
Offers an accelerated high school program allowing students to complete their education in two years or less, earning up to 5.5 credits per module during the standard academic year. An optional credit recovery summer session provides an opportunity to earn an additional 1.0 credit, featuring internships and workshops to enhance academic and professional skills, with eligibility based on credit recovery course eligibility and academic progress.
Support Services
Our philosophy centers on the integral development of each student, recognizing that emotional well-being significantly influences academic achievement. Dedicated in-house professionals such as school counselors, nurses, deans, and security personnel to a highly structured environment, emphasizing attention to details crucial for student success. Collaborating with community-based organizations, each school ensures comprehensive support services are accessible to all students.
Project Based Learning
The foundation of our instructional approach lies in the philosophy that active involvement enhances the learning experience. Through Project Based Learning, students assume control of their educational journey by applying skills to real-life scenarios, addressing a central question, and creating a final product tailored for an external audience. This methodology not only fosters a meaningful connection with the curriculum but also cultivates essential project-based skills crucial for success in the 21st century.
