SCHOOL HISTORY
Since our inception in 1999, we have led Philadelphia in efforts to reengage high school students who are not thriving in our schools—with an education that meets them where they are, and prepares them for success in postsecondary education or the workplace.
Over the years, our program has gone through several evolutionary stages, from a unique GED program with media arts and workforce development to our current status as a full high-school program funded by the School District of Philadelphia. We have been at the forefront of youth engagement, media arts programming, and development of educational models that increase student learning. Over 2,500 youth have taken our GED or high school courses enriched with art, media, technology, and work readiness training—and have had positive, development experiences. Though not all are ready to participate in full-time education to earn high school credentials, all benefit from the positive experiences they have with us.
