New Programs at YESPhilly!

Grow Kits- Want to start growing your own plants at home? YESPhilly has partnered with LandHealth Institute to distribute starter kits to grow your own plants and they’ll help along the way, telling you all that you need to know to nurture your seeds and watch them grow!

Photography Club- Starting this term, YESPhilly Center will host meetings for students interested in photography styles, techniques, and processes. We will learn about composition, lighting, and how to edit our photos to make them pop! All you need is a phone camera and the ability to download photo editing apps or a computer that can access web-based editing software. Not sure what your style is yet? Come and explore with us!

Future Studio- Working on your own personal project, side hustle, or want to take your hobby to the next level? Come to future studio on Mondays! This is a space where you can talk through your ideas, get advice on your business plan, ask for feedback on something you’ve been working on, or get connected to resources you might not know about that could be helpful to your interests.

YESPhilly Center

The YESPhilly Center is a new program that will centralize YESPhilly as a hub of community engagement through events, connection to resources, working with local organizations, and more! Through this vision, YESPhilly will grow and develop into a space that supports its community with collaborative decision-making, active engagement, and enriching opportunities.

College and Career Readiness - Thriving Mindsets

Every Wednesday, students will have the opportunity to work with our new College and Career Coordinator. Thriving Mindsets is a program that supports YES Philly students in exploring their interests and understanding the pathways to different opportunities both while in school and after graduation. Students will start by going through a Discovery process that helps identify areas of interest and curiosity, skills they currently feel confident about using and want to develop in the future, and the types of investments they can make in themselves and receive from others towards their personal and professional growth. Students will also have opportunities to connect with professionals in areas of interest to better understand the realities of this work and the pathways into different fields, and ultimately inform their decisions about their next steps into the future.

How To Get A Chromebook and Hotspot:

SCHOOL DISTRACT OF PHILADELPHIA:

The School District of Philadelphia will loan a Chromebook to every District K-12 student who needs one, to ensure all students have access to digital learning opportunities while schools remain closed long-term due to COVID-19 (coronavirus) response efforts. It will also make digital content available to help students retain, learn and apply skills and strategies with the support of a teacher. The loaner program is free however all devices must be returned once schools reopen.
