Second Chance Education Organization receives a $213,614

PHILADELPHIA, PA — On October 14, 2013, Delaware Investments raised $118,614 the firm’s annual charity golf outing, the Delaware Investments Charity Golf Classic IX. This year’s beneficiary was YESPhilly, an organization that develops opportunities for the many youth who drop out of Philadelphia schools. With a matching donation of $95,000 from the Macquarie Group Foundation, a total donation of $213,614 will benefit youth who are pursuing their education.

Taylor Frome, YESPhilly’s Executive Director “This is an extraordinary gift, which we promise will make a difference to Philadelphia.   We will use this support to support our students so that they can succeed in college and become contributing members of society.”

These funds will go toward the YESPhilly School and GED Program, where students ages 16-21 have the opportunity to meet high school graduation standards or prepare for the GED tests. Students participate in a combination of academic courses and workshops that also develop media, technology skills and life skills. YESPhilly students can gain the skills and credentials they need in an environment that engages their interests and creativity, builds self esteem, and prepares them for college and future careers.
