College and Careers

YESPhilly students are getting their education, earning GED credentials, and enrolling in college. They start preparing for college and careers as soon as they arrive. While at YESPhilly, students go on college tours, learn how to apply to college and how to get financial aid, and get support to make sure they succeed. Community College of Philadelphia has invested in welcoming our students, and making the transition to college smoother. This year 20 students earned their GEDs, and 10 started attending college.

GED to College

Being in G2C helped me understand the importance of college. YES helped me understand the importance of furthering my education beyond obtaining my GED. I also gained a great support system with the staff, and met a lot people through networking and attending out of school events.

Get into Technology with YESTech!

Now students at YESPhilly can prepare for computer and technology careers. Starting in September 2011, 25 students will have a chance to learn Microsoft Windows and Office, hands-on computer repair and refurbishment skills, and website design with Adobe Dreamweaver. This 6-month course is great preparation for college, and for careers which require a technology skills foundation. Interested students will have access to A+ and other advanced training.
